Mrs. Funk |
Miss Collins |
I was born and raised right here in Peoria, Illinois. I have siblings, one older and one younger. We all grew up attending Pleasant Valley and Limestone. I attended Eureka College for my undergraduate degree. I graduated from Eureka in 2012. I earned my Master's Degree from Grand Canyon University in Mental Health and Wellness with an Emphasis in Family Dynamics in March of 2020. I love to learn new things and cannot wait to see what my future holds!
As I continue into my 9th year of teaching and my 7th year at Pleasant Valley, I am extremely happy to work with both an amazing group of students and colleagues! I teach 6th grade Math and Science. Science and Math are huge passions of mine! The critical thinking each subject takes is both challenging and intriguing. I believe that all people have a natural desire to learn. As a teacher, it is my job to tap into my student's eagerness to learn through engaging, meaningful lessons. Pleasant Valley is truly home for me. I enjoy being a part of the community that inspired me to become a teacher when I was in middle school! Facts About Mrs. Funk: This will be my 5th year coaching our volleyball team with Coach Nemeth. Watching sports with my family is one of my favorite hobbies. We are huge Bears and Cubs fans! My favorite colors are green and purple. I enjoy having my morning coffee while listening to Pandora. I love to cook, read, paint, and spend time with my husband and son, Wyatt. Wyatt will be 4 in September and starts pre-school! We have family game night every week with my extended family. Family is of upmost importance, always! My family and I camp every weekend during the warm months. We love to be outside and all the activities that go with it. Yearly family vacations are something we look forward to each summer. This usually involves some type of our door theme. |
I was born in Griggsville, Illinois about 2 1/2 hours away from Peoria. I have 2 older sisters. I grew up attending Griggville Unit #4. I went to college in Jacksonville graduating from Illinois College in 1985.
I began teaching 3/4 graders at Westfair Christian Acadmeny in Jacksonville, Illinois. I also taught 2nd graders at my home school in Griggsville for 12 years before moving up here. Then I moved up here to the Peoria area and got the 3rd grade job at Pleasant Valley. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and now 6th grade. I love being a teacher and wouldn't trade the experiences that I have gained, the students I have taught, and the team of teachers that I have taught with. I love being a teacher! I know that this year is going to be filled with challenges due to the current situation that our country is in but I am ready to be challenged and to grow as a teacher and an individual. I consider the staff and the students here at Pleasant Valley as being a part of my family. They encourage, inspire, challenge, and listen. It is going to be a great year and I am looking forward to the 2020 - 2021 school year! |
